Hannah Utley and Maddox Lovelace knew each other for one week in college, but that week and the night of passion they shared when they were locked in the library after hours changed their lives. When a phone call forced Hanna to return home, she left the captivating football player a letter, hoping he’d call. Fifteen years later, she’s following his career as he was drafted into the professional league and lived like a king, whilst she stayed home and struggled to stay afloat. Now that he’s retired, she’s determined to stop thinking about him and the fact that he never called. Hannah has no idea that her name and her freckled nose has haunted Maddox, despite how hard he’s tried to forget her after she disappeared without a trace—until he finds himself staring at the resume in his hand. Hannah Utley works for the company he just purchased. And as far as Maddox is concerned, she’s his, whether she likes it or not.
After reading the prequel, Tackled in the Stacks, I figured that I would end up obsessed with FMC Hannah and MMC Maddox, but I severely underestimated just how much I would love them and their story. I felt so connected to both of them; their individual stories and their romance are deeply emotional and utterly heartbreaking at times, but I promise that the journey is worth it. A true second chance romance brimming with tension and mutual pining, intensified with a forbidden aspect, and containing some kindle-meltingly hot spice—Love, Utley is, hands down, one of the best romances I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. I’m starting to suspect that S J Tilly has a direct line to my heartstrings because she’s far too good at pulling them and making me—a normally stoic reader—cry like a little bitch. And I think I might be just a little in love with her for it.
