Fuck Them Kids: A Collection of Horror Stories by Timothy King, Timothy King

5.0

First, I’ve got to thank Timothy King once again for allowing me to be a part of Tim’s Terror Team and providing me with yet another great ARC. It’s a pleasure to dive into his work pre-release and give an advanced review.

This time around— it’s all about “fuck them kids!”

Fuck Them Kids is the first collected work by King. Consisting of ten creepy tales— they’re all about, well, creepy ass kids. This collection is a successfully solid mixed bag. There’s some demon possession, massacred children that haunt an abandoned daycare— teenage boys who take part in a wicked sacrifice, and even a gang of savage, murderous kids living in a town where adults don’t survive. The youths are ruthless in these tales, and there’s no letting up.

Entertaining, sinister, and a little gory would be the perfect way to describe these stories. The little ones are out for blood, and boy, does it really spill.

Timothy King knows how to keep you turning the page. His easy-going writing style still packs all the punch and delivers an ominous tone. Fuck Them Kids highlights his versatility and ability to create many storylines surrounding one theme. I’m pretty impressed. Just two books into his published writing career, and he’s truly a favorite.

My favorite stories were Bury Your Demons, The Man in the Window, The Children’s Garden, and The Town. But, there’s definitely something for everyone within the collection.

Overall, I had a good time with the book, though I may look at children sideways for a little while.

Oh, and if you have a little one or know a little one, and they stand at the foot of your bed in the middle of the night complaining about a man standing at their window— believe them.

Or you know, just tell them it was all a dream.

Sometimes, you just gotta say fuck them kids!
