Quick Take Review (TL;DR):

Mira Grant’s  "Parasite"  has an eerily realistic and unique premise, but its overly predictable plot and frustrating main character bogged it down.  While the idea of tapeworms as a “cure-all” was intriguing, the execution made it difficult to fully enjoy.

Full Review:

"Parasite"  by Mira Grant presents a chillingly realistic concept: a scientific breakthrough that cures all illness—via tapeworms, no less.  It’s a unique and creepy premise, with well-paced narration and a carefully thought-out plot.

Unfortunately, the story’s execution left much to be desired.  The main character, Sally, was overly naïve and frustratingly bratty, which made it hard to connect with her or enjoy the narrative.  While the book’s predictability and lack of mystique further detracted from the experience, the originality of the concept kept it from being a total miss for me.  I don’t regret reading it, but I’m not certain I’d recommend it or revisit it in the future.
