Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay

1.0

That was disappointing.

Really, truly, disappointing. Dexter sounds nothing more than a narcissistic being (which I assume many sociopaths or psychopaths are), but there is no other layer to his character. The readers are kept being told about how smart he is or whatever but there is definitely nothing to prove the claim. He does not think or behave like a smart, calculative person in this book, only bragging about how smart and careful, and inhumane he is. Even he does not do much of his job here despite being an actual part of the police team, as if "blood spatter analyst" is nothing more than a label slapped on the character. I. AM. SO. MAD.

Don't get me started on how Lindsay portrayed Deborah, Dexter's stepsister, and their lady boss Detective LaGuerta. It's just... ugly and immature. They behave like a bunch of fourteen-years-old fighting for the same prom queen crown.

Disappointing book for a very successful and widely popular TV series adaptation.
Will not gonna read the next installment.
