i have this long review typed out for my gr but it’s midnight and i am quite honestly too tired to copy and paste it so here’s a summarized list:
the good
- the BANTER. i will never shut up about alex and henry’s banter. had me giggling and kicking my feet the entire time.
- this was actually funny. like, laugh out loud funny. it’s been ages since i’ve come across one like this.
- all the characters!!!! alex, henry, june, nora, pez, ellen, oscar, EVERYONE. possibly the most likeable cast of characters in a book, ever.
the bad
- i got BORED. this book could’ve been at least 25 pages shorter.
- as much as i love good spice, this was not good spice. and it happened so often. but you can’t skip it because important things are said/thought during the scenes so you’re kinda just ... stuck.
- and most of all, the politics. i can’t speak on the england side of things but i hated how black and white the american politics were written. no you can’t do a deep dive in a romcom, but make it somewhat realistic, you know?

overall a fun time! possibly the best banter and back-and-forth between characters i’ve ever read in a romance. but not a perfect book either.
