Komarr by Lois McMaster Bujold

5.0

There's been an accident at Komarr, the planet that has cast a long shadow over the Vorkosigan family (remember "the Butcher of Komarr" and all the hatred Aral gets, and by extension his son Miles). The Emperor sends two Imperial Auditors to investigate -- was it an accident? Sabotage? War? Miles, the junior Auditor on the case, will have to help solve the mystery while dealing with hostile locals, assassins, and the senior Auditor's niece, Ekaterin.

Another strong Miles book. I get that the political mysteries may appeal less to some readers than the Naismith capers -- the Vorkosigan saga is definitely a box of mixed chocolates, and each reader will have their favorites. But I enjoy both types, and Miles settling into his role as Auditor is nice to see, after the emotional turmoil of Memory.

Ekaterin is also a strong addition to the saga, and her story with Tien is written very sympathetically and realistically.
