Deception by C.J. Redwine
4.0
This book was very well done.
For starters, I liked seeing how [a:C.J. Redwine|4864634|C.J. Redwine|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1322069849p2/4864634.jpg] incorporated Rachel's grief and guilt over the loss of her father and Oliver, as well as killing Melkin. Thank God for Quinn who eventually helps her get out of this tunnel of despair and unfeelingness, but I feel like it should've been Logan's job.
I HATED that Logan's and Rachel's love story didn't show much in this book. I wanted more secret moments and I felt like we didn't get enough call moments - there was always SOMETHING happening. There was too much action IMO.
I also think we should've seen more Chosen Ones and the Commander, considering they played such a big role in [b:Defiance|11410430|Defiance (Defiance, #1)|C.J. Redwine|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1341967711l/11410430._SY75_.jpg|16343248].
HOWEVER. The twist where Logan is from Rowansmark surprised me! I honestly didn't see it coming. And now I have questions - How will this affect the next book? Will this change the Baalboden survivors' views of him? And then Ian's betrayal!! I DID see that coming, but I was REALLY hoping it wouldn't come true.
WORST part: the poison that killed Sylph. That was REALLY sad, and I felt for Rachel.
The ending was cruel, I say. CRUEL. Will Rachel survive? When will Rachel be saved from Ian? How much trauma will she go through till then?
I can't wait to get my hands on the final book!
