“Nothing would happen. We would have a different adventure to go on. You are my best friend, my love, my playmate and my teammate. You’ll have a team with me wherever we are, with whatever we are playing.”

Ugh, I love this book so much. It was the first Mariana Zapata book I ever read and it’s still my favorite. Reiner is a grumpy asshole, literally no doubt about it, but you somehow end up loving him so much anyway. He might be older, the best soccer player in the world, a coach and literally everyone falls at his feet, except for Sal, the FMC. This lady is badass. The MMC was her childhood idol and crush, yet she doesn’t take any shit from him at all and won’t let him walk all over her.

I love slow burns, and Mariana is the best at it. The MCs relationship goes through so many stages and they’re all lovely and believable. The notoriously dickish MMC also says and does the swooniest things and their banter is *chef’s kiss*
