Poisoning Ivy by Carly Claire
2.0
I received an ARC copy for my honest review. 2.5 stars
Gosh this had potential. I love me some unhinged men corrupting an innocent female, and I adore dark and depraved romances (bordering on erotic horror) . But something about this one just didn't work for me. I think I have just read this concept before, just done better.
I felt there were some timing inconsistencies (Ivy said she was locked in the basement for a month, then later in the book says she was locked in the basement for a week for the same scenario). I also felt that her broken wrist was forgotten about, especially as we neared the books climax.
I also really struggled to connect with the characters. They kept talking about their feelings for each other, but I didn't FEEL that connection. This book leaned more into telling, than showing.
