Seven Exes by Lucy Vine

3.0

I picked up this new release whilst looking for a quick, easy read. It is an incredibly funny rom-com following Esther who tracks down her seven exes to find out which one was actually The One.
I really enjoyed Lucy Vine's writing and her humour. A strange reference but near the end of the book, the dialogue is so similar to the character Mark Corrigan from Peep Show, I wonder if this was her inspiration? I couldn't stop laughing, it was hilarious.
As for characters, I thought it was a good set of personalities, for both the friendship group, the exes and the side characters. I found Esther completely frustrating at points but I think this added to her charm honestly. I think some of the exes did merge into one and they weren't fully fleshed out but it does make sense that they were somewhat similar.
I liked the format of the book, discovering each ex in chronological order with the flashbacks to the past. There were some directions the plot took I didn't see coming but wasn't a fan of unfortunately and the ending and final "twist" I didn't enjoy.
Overall I would recommend this as a quick summer read if you enjoy rom-coms and want a good laugh.
