I'm not sure how Rebecca does it but she takes all of my favorite things and ends up turning them into some of my all time favorite romantasy retellings. Last year she surprised me with A Christmas Carol, for my birthday it was Great Gatsby, and I swear when she announced this Krampus retelling I was wondering how in the world she'd gotten inside of my brain the way she had. Every year my mom and I celebrate Krampusnacht and it's our dream to travel to a parade on December 5th one year together. Needless to say, the fact that one of our favorite authors decided to take on our favorite Yuletide tradition was nothing short of a gift that we both treasure.
While I knew my Daddy Krampus was in good hands with Rebecca I didn't quite expect her to hit me with the quiet masterpiece I found within these pages. It has everything: dual character growth, a sentient-esque fantasy home, weird and yet loving creatures, a tension filled slow burn, and some of the hottest spice that had my book buddy and I asking ourselves if we just unlocked a new k!nk.
I've been reading Rebecca's works for about three years now (it was November of β21 that I picked up the Gargoyle Protector) and it has been one of the most amazing journeys to have watched her own. The growth not only in her characters is reflected in her writing, her storytelling, has been nothing short of inspiring. I'll forever be in awe of the worlds and characters she has created and the fact she shares them with us all.
