The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman

3.0

I just want to start off by asking what we all want to know... how do I get a job as a Librarian??

The opening scene alone was enough to pull me in and feel like I was working right alongside Irene.

For the most part I found myself very entertained by the story but there were a couple of things that prevented me from giving it a higher rating.

The main factor that kept this a 3-star is that I did not devour this book. I enjoyed it enough but was ok with taking my time with it and setting it aside to come back to on another day. I had fully intended on reading this in one sitting but it ended up taking me a couple of sittings. I loved the world building (or should I say... WORLDS building *wink* see what I did there?) and genuinely want to see more of the Library and the worlds that they can travel to. The Language aspect of the story was very intiguing as well considering it was such a simple thing but could be done very wrong if you did not get it exactly right.

Another thing I want to mention without being too spoilery is that if you are looking for any sort of romantic storyline... it ain't happening here. In fact, it was very much brought up and immediately squashed in a way that seemed very out if place and unnatural and took me out of the story a bit.

All in all I will continue on with this series but I do have quite a few books that I want to get to before that time comes.
