Gothic literature will pretty much always win me over. I was consistently surprised to find the characters using modern devices, as it largely feels like it takes place in the Victorian era (in a good way!) It's a ghost story that's both eerie and deeply sad. Once the clock gears of the plot click into place, you feel adrift and sad and scared at once. Good book!
