My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite

3.0

Great light read

I really liked the book, the dynamic between sisters Korede and Ayoola—and their toxic co-dependency on one another is the highlight of this book. You’re left wanting to pull your hair out and strangle the serial killer sister (Ayoola), while simultaneously pimp slapping Korede for her enabling. Yet at the same time in a weird way, admire their sisterhood. Few relationships are as close as theirs—and when you gaze into their recessed childhood you soon know why.

The ending though...made me drop this to 3 stars. I’m sorry. It made me feel like this book was moreso a rough drafted Wattpad story than an actual novel. It’s less of an ending and more of a ...subtle nudge that the author indicates is the resolution of the story. I thought there’d be more depth to the characters, to the events of the story unraveling and at least SOME sort of proper practical resolution but it seems like the fairytale ending someone who is into thriller books would want.
