Review:
So, I have no motivation in picking this book back up. It's been a month, and unlike with a different book I put down, and finished much later in the future, with this one I just can't bring myself to care enough to. I was wholly invested in everything but the romance. I typically like fantasy romance, but I didn't care about it in this book. Fitz and Molly didn't work, in my opinion. He was incredibly selfish about it, and it dominated and overshadow everything else that was going on that I was much more invested in. I think that's why I loved book one so much there was little to no romance. The plot of book one was focused on the invading force, Fitz trying to find his place in court. It made me care about the character. The start of this book shows us Fitz in a dark place, he's recovering from some wounds he suffered, he's not sure if he'll be useful anymore and he's worried about if he still has a place in court. But as he gets better, he stops caring about his place in court and is only, seemingly, focused on Molly... when there are far more pressing things at hand.
I just can't bring myself to care, and that bums me out.
