Here Comes the Sun by Nicole Dennis-Benn
3.5
if you are sensitive to some topics--look up the trigger warnings, this book has something for everyone, so to say.
otherwise this book more than any other reminded me of an ancient greek tragedy. it seems to ask: is there a place you're destined to end up no matter what you do? is the gravity of intergenerational trauma and socioeconomic circumstances too strong for any one person to overcome? and like a greek tragedy, this book is not interested in giving you positive or neutral spaces to breathe, so this is not an easy read
