It took me awhile to write this review because I can’t stop thinking about this book and am also unconvinced that anything I write will do it justice. This book is a masterpiece. It’s a beautiful, sprawling epic novel that traces the family’s ancestors back to the native Americans and enslaved people.
Ailey is the main character, but this book has so many amazing, flawed characters to root for. From Aggie to Lydia to Uncle Root, this family saga is epic.
