This book could’ve used an extra 100 pages - the story was so scattered for trying to cover so much and it felt super choppy at many times. I felt like I had whiplash while I was reading, having to flip back and forth to see if I was missing something. If it’s a literary device to impress on the reader the uncertainty and chaos of war then it’s affective, but I’m not at war. It shouldn’t be that hard to keep track of locations and characters and plot points yet we were kept in the dark for a lot. That being said, I did enjoy the story and I felt like I was able to assume the ending, which to me means there was enough to connect a lot of threads. I just wish so so so much that instead of trying to cover so much ground in a shorter book, we were able to see a lot of things get explored more in a longer one.
