"But the thought of having people who understand me is worth all the world's treasures."

I won a PR box in a giveaway which contained an advance readers copy. I am under no obligation to write any review but I have not been able to stop thinking of the characters and the world so I had to share.

Rebekah’s writing grabs you from the first sentence and keeps you hooked with well written and interesting characters throughout. The world building flows natural in the storyline to build the scenes without bogging you down with too much information. Explanations, background of characters, world building and details were all given in the right quantities and at the right time.

We get to experience the story through the point of view of Rhea and Hermes. Rhea, who has lost her family at a young age and learned to keep powers of her a secret. She is a strong female character who, on occasion, does have anxiety attacks. But she was thrust into a world that she thought was a myth, she is fighting to keep her powers under control and learning how to control them, if she didn't have moments of weakness, it would not be believable? Hermes, a man with a mission to protect the gods and mortals from the god of war, while wearing armor to protect his heart. Hermes has a past that gives him pause but you can't help but fall in love with him and his banter and the way he can light up a room.

The side characters are so entwined within the story that you feel close to each one, and the story line keeps you guessing on who you can and cannot trust. A character that had me hooked from their first line had me questioning their motives by then next chapter.  This book has a choke hold on me and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!
