Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz
5.0
Ok I l o v e d this book!
Anthony Horowitz's world-building is absolutely genius, and I was beyond gripped by the story-within-a-story of "Magpie Murders." Sometimes this narrative device bugs me, but it really really worked here. I think a big part was that the Alan Conway novel was right up my alley, every bit as Agatha Christie as was promised. So while I enjoyed reading the "Magpie Murders" of the book's universe, I was also totally swept up in the death (murder?) of its author and Susan's impromptu investigation to try and puzzle it out.
I think I was well served knowing virtually nothing about the book going in so I wouldn't want to outline too much of it here, but just know that this book will make you think while you have a blast along the ride.
