I normally read books quickly. I listened to this one and had to stop part of the way through and take a as break and was listening to it via audiobook. However, I realized going into this book that I do not like high school romance but it came so highly recommended from Booktok, and the reviews were so high, so i thought I would read it.

Because I knew going into this it was a high school romance, I understand that all my points below have to do with this, so in terms of writing, and plot, I’ll give it 3.6 stars. Character development gets a 3 because it was really frustrating.

I didn’t hate this book, but I didn’t love it either. I like this book but i read this from a 27 year old woman with some dating experience. But the way she keeps going on and on and on about Michael is REALLY annoying. Like girl he’s just not into you. You’re willing to change every aspect of yourself for a boy in HIGH SCHOOL when you have one that is amazing right in front of you?!?

The way she kept saying this or that is so “unwes…” is really frustrating. She is adamant that she is not Little Liz anymore in Michael’s eyes, but can’t understand that Wes has also grown up and changed?

Whyy does she have to lie to Jos? It doesn’t make sense. If that were me, I would be spilling all the beans, regardless of how my friends felt about the guy that I liked. It is giving very high school behavior. Jos had every right to be so mad at her.

The whole back and forth refusing to believe that Wes may actually be a good guy is headache inducing. In one breath she’s saying how amazing Wes is and how she’s so head over heels and the next sentence is “BUT MICHAEL…” 🙄

I would probably not re-read this. It was not for me. The whole rom com aspect was really cute though and I enjoyed that particular aspect.
