Redemptor by Jordan Ifueko
This is Ifueko's the burning god. Honestly I can see she wrote it in nine months because it does feel rushed and unbalanced. The pacing is off, the characters are not given much chance to establish themselves and there's just too many new ones. I wish Dayo and the rest of the council weren't relegated to a few pages and even then used just as to facilitate Tar's plotline. I was actually sad about Dayo's arc, he's barely himself and always very ready to agree to Tar's ideas without hesitation and we rarely get to hear his thoughts. I think the last chapter just confirmed that I know they love each other but it just felt :( zuri's entire thing was so bizarre too and overall the politics just felt so unrealistic. I wish there were more quest type adventures like the first book rather than entire arcs crafted just to end in nothing. It's not a bad book of course I had fun but yeah this could've been better.
