Limitless Mind: Learn, Lead, and Live Without Barriers by Jo Boaler
3.0
I read this as part of a book study by Indiana's DOE, which involved interacting in Google Classroom, participating in a webinar, and attending an in-person workshop. I have friends who have used Jo Boaler's work, in part to good results. There are some very worthwhile points that she makes in the book, but, unfortunately, I found a lot of it to be very unprofessional. What did Chapter 6 offer to me as an educator? Not much. She frequently threw people under the bus, such as her children's teachers. I agree that chapter 4 offered a lot that would be useful to educators, not just in math, but in any subject. I still believe that people can be "gifted" in particular subjects, but the book was beneficial in explaining how strengthening and increasing neural pathways improves learning.
