I enjoyed this book far more than I anticipated. The enemies to lovers aspect was exactly the way I would like that trope to play out. The characterization was full and well-done and I loved both Iris and Roman. When the truth came about Roman being the one receiving the letters, there wasn’t some huge, unnecessary third-act breakup (which is my least favorite trope). The depiction of war and the contrast between those left at home and those on the frontlines felt more realistic and relevant than what I’ve seen in other YA literature. I’m honestly so ready to dive into the next book that I don’t know that I can wait for it to become available from my library; I may just have to buy it.
