Face of Death by Blake Pierce

3.0

This wasn't a bad book --held my interest and moved along at a fairly good pace. There were no major errors in grammar, continuity, etc. But I found it very difficult to believe 1) that no one knew Zoe's "secret" (that she is a math whiz and sees numbers and patterns everywhere --think Reid from Criminal Minds and 2) that anyone at the FBI would ever see that as a negative. The entire plot of the book hinges on her having this incredible skill but not wanting to tell anyone, including her new partner. I was interested in that very aspect --i loved Numbers on TV - so found it incredibly annoying. Maybe later books get better. Detective with a secret is a well-worn trope and when the secret doesn't even make sense . . . .
