Smooth Talking Stranger by Lisa Kleypas

It absolutely had its moments, but overall this was a miss. I enjoyed the leads' romance, but the book just didn't read well, it's not even that old of a book but it read like one that has not aged well at all. I've read older books that have aged better, including its predecessor Blue-Eyed Devil. So I just feel surprised by how not-so-great this one went down. 2.5✨

Simply put, I was off-put most of the time reading, I fear.

Can I just whine about the Tara subplot please?
SpoilerLike my gosh, this book is already not aging well, and I get people like Tara absolutely exist and perhaps I should sympathize, but I do nottt. I don't care about reality, this is my fictional happy place of romance and it utterly annoyed me she ends the book globe-trotting off with a married man who keeps their affair hidden from his wife and kids. And I'm supposed to shrug it off? I think not!
