This was my first Michael Crichton novel. I really enjoyed the way he weaved actual people into this work of fiction. I was really surprised to find out that two of the characters who had a vast hatred for each other were actually real people, and their disdain for each other was also very real (and, in fact, milder in the book than in real life).

Crichton wrote this book in 1974 -- before Jurassic Park -- but it was published posthumously in 2017. There was a lot of action of the Old West type and I found it mesmerizing. I will probably read this one again before the year is out.
