Night Shift by Stephen King

dark emotional reflective tense medium-paced

5.0

I’ve had this book as a top ten King for years, but I’d forgotten a lot of the details so I decided to reread and see if it would still hold up. It does. Period. Cemented in my top ten King books, I loved this even more than I remembered. I even loved the introduction and foreword!

It’s always hard for me to review a short story collection because there could be some I love and others I hate, but honestly, there was nothing I didn’t like.

Sure, they weren’t all great, but I enjoyed reading each one.

The bottom of the pile for me would be I Know What You Need and The Woman in the Room.

Stand outs were Jerusalem’s Lot, I Am the Doorway, Gray Matter, The Ledge, Children of the Corn, The Last Rung on the Ladder (heartbreaking), and my personal favorite Quitters Inc.

The Lawnmower Man was absolutely insane, and just proves King can write about anything and make people want to read it.
