I did not love this, but at about 80% I realized that it's probably just me. I realized it is a Hallmark movie wrapped up in a book. All the things that didn't work for me were probably only because of the same reasons I don't like Hallmark movies. The pacing is way too fast. The eyes are way to starry. The love interest was also a little too prickly.

I do think it is a nice story for an older teen. I would let me kid read it as an older teen. The representation was great. The characters were likeable and not dramatized, although Blair could have used an attitude adjustment. It was refreshing to see teen characters who cared about their community.

For me it all boils down to that I feel like the story would have made a much more compelling adult romance that takes place over months instead of days. And the body shaming was all a little much, especially when Ariel is always illustrated as straight sized.
