The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin

5.0

It took me a few chapters to really get invested but once I did I could not put this down. She writes so beautifully. At first I was frustrated because Jemisin is not heavy on world building here but in reality that is hardly a flaw. Yeine herself doesn't have these answers, it makes sense that we don't have them all either. I neglected housework, pissed off the cat, and stayed up way past my bedtime so I could see through Yeine's eyes for a few more moments. I haven't enjoyed a book this much in quite a while.
