Where You See Yourself
Claire Forrest
Five Stars.
Where You See Yourself is a coming of age, young adult novel with so much packed into it.
In this story, we meet Effie. Effie is a senior who is ready to choose the next step in her life-college. She has cerebral palsy and is a wheelchair user.
Effie's journey is one of accessibility, education, and change. As a wheelchair user myself, this is one of the most relatable books I have ever read. I began losing my mobility in highschool so a lot of Effie's internalized dialogue I shared with her. Effie made me laugh (a lot) and reflect during her story.
Effie is not the only engaging and charming character! We have Wilder(oh,my heart), Effie's parents, and Effie's sister too. These are all very special people that have my whole heart. They are definitely the ones I'd want by my side.
The story I would recommend to anyone chronically ill or disabled. You are not alone.
I would also recommend to fans of Sick Kids in Love. Where You See Yourself is written by an #ownvoices author. Claire Forrest has cerebral palsy and is a wheelchair user as well.
Where You See Yourself will be available May 2nd 2023!♿
