Like watching a car crash in slow motion - I just couldn’t tear my eyes away but it was brutal to get through
Not the best way to start 2025 🥲
The characters were very juvenile in their conversations, actions, and responses to events so that was jarring considering most of them were soon to be leaders of kingdoms..
The world-building was practically non-existent. The friction between fae and humans was more spoken about retrospectively than seen actively on page (except for towards the very end of the book). I think we could’ve seen more active rioting or rebelling or something on-page to add to the growing tensions between the races
The pacing was bizarre. By 17% 3 years had passed because of a training montage for the FMC to get strong af - mind you we never really get to see her actually use these skills tbh except for one time (and she almost botches it)
Overall this book felt very clunky and messy, it didn’t help that the FMC was pining HARD after brother A for like the first 30% of the book.. like seriously gf, touch some grass, take a Xanax, remember your whole thing at the start of the book where you would never fall in love because of what it did to your mother? No? Oh ok then lol. The MMC carried this book but even he couldn’t redeem it from all the plot holes I waded through
