I feel like I caught on to the twist ending early, but the mid-to-latter half of the story distracted/absorbed me enough that I was a little surprised once the ending came. "Junior"s dialogue not being in quotations was strange enough in comparison to Hen & Terrance's that it was the main hint that something was off; Hen's dialogue at the very end tipped me off to her end as well. This reminds me of Kafka.
Similar to "I'm Thinking of Ending Things," an intriguing read but I wouldn't describe it as "pleasant" or "entertaining." I don't regret the read but I don't think I would read it again.
