The True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren

4.5

A fabulous sequel to the equally fabulous The Soulmate Equation where best friend Fizzy gets her chance at love and happiness!

No filter, care free, infamous romance writer Fizzy has sadly lost her mojo. It’s been a long arduous year where she hasn’t even felt a twinge of lust in her nethers, and she feels like a liar to her audience because she has never experienced the love she advertises in her books. Fizzy is currently uninspired by life, far behind on her next book deadline, and has pretty much given up on a HEA ever happening for her.

Enter hot single dad Connor who is forced to put away his documentary producing self and must create a reality show that his boss is adamant will earn the company big money. Typically, he’d readily say no to such, but if Connor wants to avoid a long commute to see his daughter regularly, he has no choice but to comply. When he comes up with the brilliant idea to feature Fizzy as the next up and coming bachelorette using DNA based technology (developed by yummy MC River from The Soulmate Equation) it’s guaranteed to work for a successful outcome. Connor really has no idea what’s in store for him especially as weeks of preproduction bring him and Fizzy closer and closer together.

This was so much fun and a bit more smexy than its predecessor! Fizzy is like a breath of fresh air, a heroine with no boundaries, and a zeal for life that was infectious. She’s everyone’s idea of a good time, and I loved and rooted for her throughout the entire book which for me, never happens in regards to the FMC.

Look. CLo is known for their dreamy heroes, and Connor was no different. He comes complete with a British accent, wonderful dad vibes, gorgeous 6’5” stature, and is a guy who wants to do right by the woman he’s falling for. Fizzy is the perfect foil against Connor’s more reserved nature who takes Fizzy’s outlandish happenstances in easy going stride.

This also excels in portraying the entertaining dating show that must go on despite our protagonists not wanting to find Fizzy her soulmate! However, never fear dear reader! This was that rare MF romance that never made me cringe once as it consistently delivered on the laughs, the feels, and the swoon! This duology was a wonderful win and comes highly recommended!
