I became aware of this book because of author’s blog saying (with evidence) that Scholastic had offered to publish it but only if author’s note was censored to remove mention of racism. If my son were of an age to still read to, I would buy this book. It’s excellent. There’s nothing in the text that would be inappropriate for any age child. Young children aren’t going to listen to author’s notes. Scholastic has apologized (poorly IMO).
