This was a very insightful read, a book that I read back, front, and inside out. Through the book, Fordlandia: The Rise and Fall of Henry Ford’s Forgotten Jungle City, Greg Grandin can present to his readers that it was not only Ford’s mission to grow rubber, but also to make his vision of Americanism within the Amazon. Readers learn how Ford’s utopian vision of Fordlandia crumbles to pieces, allowing for there to be a reflection on American imperialism.
