THANK CRAP IT'S OVER. It's bold to make a main character who's a racist (fantasy racist equivalent? Specist?) and thinks torture is not only a completely acceptable interrogation technique but also that it's going to produce worthwhile information (pssst, it's not a secret that it doesn't!) and then try to get you to care about them? HAHAHAHAHA, I SURE DON'T. Also, Kidan is just dumb.... someone tells her a thing and that must be the truth (especially if it lines up with her already racist views), like, there is no higher thought involved and........ I don't want her to be our narrator. I'm smarter than her, I know not to fall for roughly seventy-five percent of the things that she did. I kept wanting to shove her aside and just do everything myself because she is UNPLEASANT and since I twigged something was off in the sister thing immediately (the more she wanted to find her, the more I was certain she did not want to be found) to have that be her SOLE focus was.... such a struggle.

Bad book, very bad. Do not recommend.
