This is definitely a series best to read back to back because book 2’s start was difficult. I remembered book 1 and loved it, but then waiting and finally jumping back into the setting and the characters I was so confused. It takes places roughly 6 months after book 1 and honestly it didn’t pick up till like 50% in which is more than I normally give before I DNF. But the second half was really really good, it progressed the story and plot really well, obviously leaving the ending open for the finale in the trilogy. There were quite a few more diverse characters, I remember in book 1 we had a version of sign language but there was a lot more queer characters in book 2. There was a point when j thought there was a lot of unnecessary spotlighting but it got better and the story continued. Overall decent once we got over the hump
