Punk 57 by Penelope Douglas
2.0
Okay, so let’s start with mentioning that I had quite high expectations for this book due to all the hype Booktok has given it. It might have given me the impression that this book would give me more of a “wow” feeling that it actually did.
Ryen and Misha are great on paper and before they meet, they have an undeniable chemistry both in person and when writing to each other and they do seem to enjoy each other’s company…that’s when they’re not being toxic to one another by lying, keeping secrets and manipulating one another to get what they want…I truly believe that this book would’ve been better if they communicated more.
Some of the arguments they had seemed unnecessary — they should’ve talked — and even though I get that they promised not to google one another I feel like it was quite out of character for Ryen not to google Misha after he just disappeared into thin air after exchanging letters for seven years?
I wasn’t the biggest fan of Misha’s possessiveness of Ryen before they actually got together either.
So what did I like? I really enjoyed Douglas way of writing! It was really captivating which made it hard to put the book down. The chemistry between the two main characters were really visible and the fact that she wrote both of the characters POVs but still managed to make their voices very different is amazing.
Some of her most well-written scenes were without a doubt the sex-scenes, they were incredibly spicy and describing; so if you’re looking for some spice BUT also a heartbreaking and intriguing story, this is it!

Pinning her to the bed after breaking into her house when you’re not even acquainted goes beyond the line of being hot and instead becomes creepy. So what did I like?
