The Takeover by TL Swan
4.0
The Takeover was a really sexy and entertaining read. I always melt when the playboy is slapped upside the head with the lovebug. This time the playboy falls for the woman and her kids, which made me love Tristan more.
Tristan is a powerful executive with his family's media company, Miles Media. He had the opportunity to acquire Claire Anderson's company, Anderson Media. Five years after her husband's tragic death, she has trouble keeping business afloat while raising her three boys. However, she refuses to let Tristan Miles takeover her husband's legacy.
Their first meeting was full of animosity with an undercurrent of attraction on Tristan's part. For Triston, Claire would be perhaps the most challenging woman to get into bed but she isn't interested. The two meet up unexpectedly at a conference where Claire lets go of her feelings towards Tristan and gives into her desire. For days, they lose themselves in each other, ignoring the stressors that await them at home. However, once they get home, they realize that neither want to give each other up.
Tristan has player reputation but the more Claire gets to know him, she realizes he's an amazing guy with a huge heart. Family is really important to him. What I liked about this book was the role the kids played in this book. There was a thought and recognition that her three boys; Fletcher (17), Harrison (13), and Patrick (9); are still grieving their father's death and learning to move forward five years later. Watching a NYC playboy fall for the girl and build a relationship with her boys, winning all 4 of their hearts was so lovely to watch. It reminded me of why I loved Sustained by Emma Chase so much.
I felt similar about this book as I did the last book, The Stopover. This book had A LOT of filler and moments that didn't go anywhere. There was a lots of page time in the last book on the Ferrera family and their rivalry. Claire is good friends with Gabriel Ferrera and that tension is never really addressed in this book.
