Abigail Hammond has yet to release a book that I don't devour in one sitting. Her books are so binge-able and I always feel immensely happy and satisfied with her endings. Dear Patience, Sincerely Lucy was no different!
Lucy's life could easily have represented mine at one time; the go-getter, boss babe, successful woman who survives off of coffee, stress, and a to-do list that never ends. But what's great about Lucy is that she enjoys it... until she doesn't. The illustration of burnout is so well written in this story; how even though you can be good at something and enjoy it for a time, you can only run 100 mph for something you don't love for so long. Eventually, you burnout and start looking for something else, and I loved following Lucy on that journey.
Another thing that I appreciated in this book was that the woman who Lucy works for isn't portrayed as a heartless villain who only loves her job. The woman has her passion and direction in life all sorted and while she's not exactly "loveable", I actually really liked her and appreciated her character. Some women enjoy the fast-paced life and some don't, and I loved that the woman and Lucy respected each other, even in the face of opposing life goals.
Overall, I can't recommend this book enough to the women who feel like they're stuck in a routine they never signed up for. This book will give you that spark to pick up your old hobby and find yourself again.
