I didn't quite know what to expect when starting this book, but it didn't take me long to get hooked. I loved the alternating points of view and how each character was so well thought out and unique. I also loved that this was a Jewish centric world. The Hebrew, the traditions, even the food mentioned felt inherently Jewish and I need more books with that kind of representation. There was also a mix of LGBTQ+ characters including many of the main ones and I enjoyed that so much. This was certainly a darker fantasy, but it was also one of those where I couldn't put it down or look away. Laura created a stunning world that I would certainly read more books in. The writing was also so beautiful, and the way she wrote about love had me basically in tears. This is easily one of my new favorite books and I can't wait to see what Laura does next!! Thank you to Random House Canada for sending me an ARC to read and review!
