Freedom: Historical Romantic Suspense by Jewel Geffen

great pacing

I’ll tell you what, there was never a dull moment in this book. The pacing was great. But there was something missing in this book, that few more chapters could have fixed. For example, I wish I was able to read a bit more of Charlotte and Thomas getting to know each other.

In no way do I like Christian, but him as a character is very compelling. He seemed indifferent to slavery and to the confederacy, but still lost his leg for it. His deteriorating mental state after the war. His infatuation with Charlotte. It was interesting to watch unfold. I kind of wish I saw a bit more of it…
