A book I read and carried around with me until a ruthless purge of my romance novels. Elizabeth Lowell remains one of my favorite authors but I definitely like her older stuff better. This is one of the good ones. First in the "Only" series, it introduces us to the Moran family. Willow was from a comfortable Northern family but the Civil War left her family plantations ravaged. Her five brothers had already left before the war started so she's trying to track down the only one whose location is known. Caleb Black is the man recommended to her as being the best man to guide her to her brother, but he has his own agenda. His sister had been impregnated by a man he believes is that same brother. Misunderstandings ensue, especially since they are desperately attracted to each other but he believes that Willow is her brother's wife. Luckily, it all comes out in the wash and they live happily ever after.
