I absolutely loved this book.

Strand managed to not only write a great cat-and-mouse thriller, but also managed to write believable middle schoolers from the 70s that would have a real challenge against a serial predator. This isn't a mystery, because you know right from the beginning who the culprit is. The tension comes instead with a young boy up against insurmountable odds that is determined to find and/or bring justice for his friend.
