It's no secret that I have been and always will be a fan of Cassandra Clare's. And I was nervous to read a book outside of the Shadowhunter world, but I shouldn't have been because this was brilliant. I absolutely loved the new world she created. I thought it was great to see multiple POV's because the characters were so complex. The idea of the Sword Catcher was unique and it was cool to see both Kel and Conor's perspectives. These characters were interesting and layered, and I was never bored while reading. I'd be remiss if I didn't talk about my girl Lin. She is incredible and I enjoyed that her character and background was steeped in Jewish folklore. Cassie said Judaism was definitely present in this story, and I loved to see that in a fantasy novel. This was tense, intriguing, and I hated when I had to put it down. I'm so curious to find out more about this world and I'm also ready for book two based on that ending. Highly recommend this one and Cassandra nailed her first adult fantasy.
