Wow, this is a visually dense book, packed with details and numerous styles of illustrations. It can only be a Peter Sis book! How lovely that even though Madlenka's world is seemingly small, her horizons expand so that a walk around the block becomes a walk around the world. The representations of different cultures and ethnicities were a bit tokenistic and it's a shame that Australia missed out (hello, we're down here, between Asia and Antarctica!) on the tour of continents, but it's a nice way to introduce children to urban diversity.
