I rarely read forbidden or age – gap romances; mostly because the angst level in such books end up being way more than my emotional range can handle; but something about the blurb of  this book; Dreams of 18 called out to me, even though this not my usual cup of romance to read.

Violet fell for the man next door; when she was 16 but the man, she fell for happened to more than twice her age and the father of one of her friends. Violent was absolutely adorable, I loved getting to know her, her thoughts and emotions were eerily similar to the ones the insecure teenager (& sometimes adult) ends up feeling. She is shy and feels insignificant existentially and it doesn’t take long for the reader to sympathise with Violet, and she does shine throughout the story!

Coming to Mr. Graham; Edward – at first, its really hard to like him, let alone sympathise with him; mostly cause I really wanted to see EXACTLY what Violet saw in him – but as he slowly starts to open up too Violet, it doesn’t take long for the reader in me to understand that even he didn’t exactly have the easiest of lives around and what exactly made him enamoured with Violet.

But what made this age gap romance easier to read is the fact that the author has done a brilliant job of making the connection as well as romance between them sweet rather than creepy (trust me, when I tell you, with this sort of romance, it is a double edged sword that is just waiting to cut you off!) and that’s why I loved reading this book!

If you are a fan of a little angst with your romance and do not mind an older man – younger woman relationship then this is a book that you would love to pick up!
