The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater
5.0
5 Stars for the entire series!
I've not hidden the fact that I've loved this series from the start, and though the conclusion took forever to be accomplished and things didn't exactly pan out like I had thought, there were still many parts to this story that affected me.
Basically, I'll just reiterate what I've said before. Teen angst has never been so acutely felt. It's felt in the early stirrings of true love, the wonder of first kisses and touches, the heartache of knowing the future, and the burdensome weight of responsibility and curses. What continues is heroic quests and the transition into adulthood that brings with it awful decisions and sometimes, devastating disappointment.
Though not perfect in execution, this was still satisfying despite some redundancy and verbosity. For me, every interaction and reaction among the characters felt gleefully sublime as they worked toward their common goal. This still made me feel, and it made me wish for magic and wonder and all the possibilities that come with it as the sheer magnitude of reveal after reveal boggles the brain. Not only did Blue and Gansey, Ronan and Adam, experience such amazing things, they were amazing in and of themselves, accomplishing and becoming the impossible in the classic fight of good against evil. Reassuringly, they overcome their destined fate, and the prospect and potential for their future really has no limits.
So in conclusion, I truly had a fantastic time with this series, and I'm sad that it's over. There is no doubt I would wholeheartedly embrace tagging along after them again should Stiefvater ever choose to continue their wondrous journey.
Audible edition very highly recommended
