Colonisation, slavery, and war are main themes in this series.
This book also includes many large-scale battles that describe violence, brutality, death, murder, blood, injuries, etc. It's war. This later includes makeshift guns, which use black powder with small projectiles, as part of the combat(s). A LOT of people die in this book.
Multiple horses are injured or killed in the course of the aforementioned battles.
